Kutumba: Sustainable Agriculture and Restoration in Angola

Kutumba is a long term carbon project lead by Eni Natural Energies, focused on strengthening sustainable agriculture, restoring degraded ecosystems using diverse mixes of indigenous tree species and creating long-term economic opportunities for Angolan local communities, while generating high-quality carbon credits to support the sustainability of the initiatives and Eni’s decarbonization targets.

The project will combine sustainable agricultural land management practices and agroforestry with ecosystem restoration, complemented by initiatives such as beekeeping, education, strengthened agricultural cooperatives and improved market access for local producers.

For C4, the launch is also an important demonstration of what our end-to-end carbon project delivery looks like in practice. Our role as main implementing partner spans the entire project lifecycle: from pre-feasibility and feasibility studies through technical design, FPIC and stakeholder engagement, PDD development, financing and investment, validation and verification, risk mitigation and long-term implementation on the ground.

Throughout this process, we have focused on developing a scientifically robust project that delivers measurable carbon outcomes and tangible benefits for communities and the environment. Over its lifetime, Kutumba is expected to benefit thousands of farmers and community members, support hundreds of local jobs and restore significant areas of degraded land.

We look forward to continuing our work alongside Eni Natural Energies, the other partners Diocese of Luena and Acelera Agro, local institutions and communities as we bring this ambitious project to life over the coming decades.

We’ll be sharing more technical insights and project updates over the coming months, so stay connected to follow Kutumba’s progress, and get in touch if you’d like to learn more about our approach to delivering high-quality carbon projects at scale.
