Verra launches its new Registry on 27 July 2026, introducing more structured workflows for managing projects, requesting issuances and tracking Registry activities.
The transition does not change Verra’s core account requirements or the principal functions available to Registry users. Project proponents will still be able to manage projects, request issuances and manage units. However, the processes used to complete and track these activities will change.
The current Verra Registry closed on 23 July 2026 at 5:30 pm ET, with the new platform scheduled to open on 27 July 2026 at 7:00 am ET.
Key improvements include:
- Closer integration between the Verra Project Hub and Registry
- Clearer, status-driven project and issuance workflows
- Improved tracking of verification periods, methodologies, methodology versions and VVBs
- More structured management of project documents, labels and buffer contributions
- Customisable project, issuance, transaction and public reports
- Improved unit transfer and retirement workflows
- Individual email-based access and two-factor authentication
- A new public-comment tool linked to applicable project records
One notable process change relates to verification records. Account holders will no longer enter their project’s vintage and verification records themselves when requesting verification approval. Once Verra has reviewed and approved the verification, Verra administrators will create the record. The project proponent will then use that approved record to submit an issuance request.
Transition timeline
6 July 2026
New KYC account applications submitted after this date will generally be processed in the new Registry after 27 July. Non-urgent account changes submitted after this date may also only be processed after the transition.
10 July 2026
Non-urgent project requests submitted after this date may only be processed after 27 July. These may include:
- project transfers
- changes in project proponent
- project withdrawals
- buffer releases
- retirement reversals
17 July 2026
The recommended deadline for submitting new issuance, labelling and cancellation requests.
Requests entered after 17 July may be deleted during migration and may need to be submitted again in the new Registry.
22 July 2026
The recommended deadline for accepting pending incoming unit transfers.
Transfers that remained pending when the Registry closed may be withdrawn and may need to be reinitiated in the new Registry.
23 July 2026
Project review requests could continue to be processed, although turnaround times may have been slower. Users were asked to log out by 5:00 pm ET, ahead of the current Registry closing at 5:30 pm ET.
Existing account information, projects, units and transaction records will be migrated automatically. Account holders can review their users, account details, project information and outstanding invoices following the transition, and use previously downloaded reports to compare existing records against the information migrated into the new Registry.
When accessing the new platform, users should expect to log in using their individual email addresses, complete two-factor authentication and accept the updated Registry Terms of Use.
Although the underlying requirements remain unchanged, the new Registry introduces more structured workflows and improved visibility of project and issuance processes. Understanding these changes can help users navigate the new platform.
