Jaun van Loggerenberg’s COP31 programme is now confirmed: three sessions in the Blue Zone, including his main presentation, and an interview with Climate TV.
In October we shared that Jaun van Loggerenberg, our Carbon Development Director, will be in the Blue Zone at COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9 to 20 November (Meet Jaun in Antalya).
Since then, his programme has been confirmed. Jaun will speak at three sessions arranged by Responding to Climate Change (RTCC), including his main presentation, “Creating Bankable and Investable Carbon Projects”, on Friday 13 November. He will also record a short interview with Climate TV. Here is his week at a glance.

Jaun’s sessions at COP31
Powering the Transition: Energy Security, Mobility & Critical Minerals
Tuesday 10 November, 11:30–12:30, Kazakhstan Pavilion
Energy security used to mean securing oil and gas. Today it also depends on clean power, resilient grids, electrified transport and the critical minerals behind them. This panel looks at what energy security means in a changing energy landscape, and how finance, regulation and logistics can support it.
Jaun opens with a short input on how carbon finance and carbon markets can help fund clean energy and mobility projects, particularly in emerging economies. He joins panellists from law, port infrastructure and research. The session is co-organised by ICESCO, RTCC and D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University.
Unlocking Climate Finance Through Carbon Accounting, Trading and Sustainable Finance
Friday 13 November, 13:00–14:30, Chad Pavilion
Credible climate commitments rest on three things: measuring emissions, putting a price on reductions and moving capital to the projects that deliver them. This session looks at how carbon accounting, carbon markets and sustainable finance fit together, and what makes them trustworthy.
This is where Jaun gives his main presentation of COP31, a 15-minute talk on “Creating Bankable and Investable Carbon Projects”, before joining the panel discussion. He will look at why a registered carbon project is not automatically a bankable one, and what developers can do early to make their projects investable. The topic sits at the centre of C4’s work with project developers.
After the session, Jaun will record a short interview with Climate TV.
Building Responsible Critical Mineral Value Chains for a Just Energy Transition
Saturday 14 November, 13:15–14:45, Side Event Room Red
The low-carbon transition depends on minerals such as lithium, cobalt, copper and rare earths. As demand grows, so does the risk that resource-rich countries and communities carry the costs of the transition without sharing in its benefits.
This session brings together government, legal, finance and civil society perspectives to look at what fair, transparent mineral value chains look like in practice, with a focus on Africa. Topics include governance, sustainable mining, local processing and the role of finance, including carbon finance and responsible investment. The session is organised by RTCC, the Government of Benin and NGO ASEDI.
Jaun gives a short presentation, followed by a moderated discussion and audience Q&A led by Alexandra Dahms of RTCC.
Meet Jaun in Antalya
Between sessions, Jaun is still setting aside time to meet project developers, investors, government representatives and potential partners. To set up a meeting, email info@c4es.co.za with “COP31” in the subject line, or connect with Jaun on LinkedIn.
